Fashion Predictions for the Academy Awards: Annette Bening

It's time for the Academy Awards, yipee!! I decided to predict what each Best Actress nominee should wear on the big night. I'm chosing from looks that came down the spring runways. First up: The beautiful and talented Annette Bening, who is nominated for her performance as Nic in The Kids Are All Right. Do I have a clue what I'm talking about? We'll have to wait and see. Later this week, Natalie Portman.




Here are my predictions:

Annette Bening loves classy and fitted shapes. This Georges Chakra dress is simple and classic with beautiful detail. It is the essence of chic.










This Elie Saab gown is a wonderful standout red, red-carpet dress. This will be absolutely gorgeous on Annette Bening.










Zac Posen is a fantastic designer, and I think his approach to clothes is something the actress could really relate to—they have a classic feeling, but they are also very modern. This look, in particular, really evokes his trademark.

The Good, The Bad and The Bizarre from the 2010 Grammy Red Carpet

We'll start with THE GOOD from the 2010 Grammy red carpet. Carrie Underwood wore an asymmetrical white Edition by Georges Chakra gown with the bust and shoulders accented by interlocking silver leather straps. Carrie can do no wrong, she always looks like the picture of perfection.

Now for THE BAD from the 2010 Grammy red carpet. Britney, oh Britney. This is so bad and just wrong. Britney Spears wore a daring Dolce & Gabbana sheer black long sleeve lace dress over a black bodysuit. I hope this was a dare.!!!

And now....THE BIZARRE from the 2010 Grammy red carpet. Lady Gaga. I wasn’t aware that anything from Armani Prive could be this tacky on Gaga. Apparently, it’s possible.

Peace Sign Necklace

This necklace can be worn several ways. The peace sign pendant is one necklace and the other shorter chains are another. So, you can wear each separate or both together, 3 necklaces in one!

The peace sign pendant is hanging from 3 strands of chain (black chain, antique silver chain, matte antique silver chain) and finished with an antique silver lobster claw clasp. The chain measures about 29 inches and the pendant drops down 2 inches from chain.

The shorter chains are about 23 inches, also finished with antique silver lobster claw clasp.

Color of the year 2010

Color authority Pantone has selected turquoise (15-5519 TCX on your Pantone fandex), with its legacy of Western jewelry and '80s fashion, to carry the banner of Color the Year for 2010. We associate the hue with the bold "Bondi blue" of the original iMac, but Pantone sees a vacation in a color swatch. "Turquoise evokes thoughts of soothing, tropical waters and a languorous, effective escape from the everyday troubles of the world, while at the same time restoring our sense of wellbeing," noted the company in a statement announcing the pick.

Whether envisioned as a tranquil ocean surrounding a tropical island or a protective stone warding off evil spirits, Turquoise is a color that most people respond to positively.

2010 Jewelry Trends

The new year is here and I have been researching the jewelry trends for 2010 and so I will share with you what I have learned. First lets start with colors.

Colors are really important this year. The fashion focus with this year's colors are actually warm and rich shades. Jewel tones are very popular as long as they are rich and lush. Additionally, warm tones are very in style this year. That means that yellows, oranges, and reds are very popular. I also wanted to share one of my favorite tools and resources; the Pantone Color Forecast for the upcoming Spring season!

10) One of the major jewelry trends is going to have a Russian folkloric theme. These ornately designed pieces will be swathed in rich colors such as cobalt blue, purple, ruby, forest green, black and gold.
